What F3 Means

F3 is a shorted oven temperature sensor on the classic Dacor ERC. The control needs 16 short-circuit readings in a row before it shows F3, and it only checks while a cooking operation is being attempted, which is why the code never appears while the display is just showing the time of day.

Common Causes of F3

  • Oven sensor shorted
  • Sensor lead pinched or melted against the cavity

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Press Cancel. With the oven cool, check the sensor inside the cavity for damage. If F3 comes back the next time you start a cooking mode, leave the oven off.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • The sensor connects behind the oven; testing and replacing it means pulling the oven out.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
