What E2 Means
On the Dacor Heritage induction ranges, HIPR30S and HIPR36S, E2 on the cooktop display means the touch controls see spills or objects on or near them. The manual treats it as a controls-covered condition, not a part failure.
Common Causes of E2
- Liquid boiled over onto the control area
- Pan, lid or utensil resting on the controls
- Touch control board failing if the glass is clean
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Clean up any spill on the glass, move pans and utensils away from the touch controls, then reset the cooktop: turn it off, cut power for 10 seconds and restore it. If E2 persists with the glass clean, call for service.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If a clean, dry panel still shows E2, the touch board under the glass needs to be tested, which means lifting the glass top.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
