Dacor’s current cooktop and rangetop lineup runs from 30 to 48 inches across the Contemporary and Transitional lines: gas cooktops and rangetops with sealed brass burners, induction cooktops with touch controls, and Pro-style rangetops built to match Dacor’s wider ranges. Alongside those, a large number of older Professional Series rangetops – the raised-vent ERV and PRV families and the ERD-prefixed models – are still doing daily work in American kitchens, and parts and service for them remain available.

A burner that will not light, lights late, or keeps clicking after it has caught is traced to the igniter, the spark module or the burner valve, checked with the cooktop isolated and the burner caps and grates removed. On induction models, a zone that will not power on or that drops mid-cook points at the coil, the control board or the pan-sensing circuit, and is confirmed against a pan known to work on another zone before any part is ordered.

Gas connections, burner valves and igniter assemblies sit behind the cooktop or rangetop and are technician work with the gas supply shut off. If a burner will not light and the smell of gas is present at any point, the gas supply is shut off at the source, no switch is operated near the cooktop, and the room is aired out before service is called.

Why Trust Us With Your Dacor Appliance & Repair Cooktops & Rangetops

  • Confirmed Before It's Charged | We do not put a cooktops & rangetops part on your bill on a hunch. It goes on the estimate once the technician has watched it fail an actual test.
  • Stocked For cooktops & rangetops Repairs | The parts that give out most often on a Dacor cooktops & rangetops ride along in the van, so most visits wrap up in a single trip. A part that is less common gets ordered specifically for your model.
  • Your Model, Not a Guess | Dacor has revised its control platforms across the Renaissance, Millennia, Epicure, Distinctive, Discovery, Contemporary, Transitional and Modernist lines, and a cooktops & rangetops fix built for one generation can be the wrong fix for another. Sending a photo of the model and serial label when you book clears that up before we arrive.
  • Honest About Age | When an older cooktops & rangetops is not worth repairing, we tell you plainly, even though it is the one answer that loses us the job.
FAQ

Cooktops & Rangetops Repair FAQ

A little clicking right at lightoff is normal on a sealed gas cooktop, but an igniter that keeps clicking once the flame is burning usually means a spark module or a wet, food-fouled igniter is not sensing the flame correctly. It is not dangerous to keep cooking on that burner in the short term, but book a visit before the igniter wears out and the burner stops lighting altogether.

Turn off the burner knob, then shut off the gas supply to the cooktop rather than continuing to try to light it, open a window, and do not operate any other switch or appliance nearby, including a range hood, until the smell has cleared. Call for service from outside the house if the smell is strong or does not clear quickly.

Often worth repairing. Igniters, burner valves, spark modules and even control boards for the Professional Series raised-vent rangetops are still available, and a rangetop that has otherwise held up well is usually a straightforward repair rather than a replacement decision. We will tell you plainly if a specific unit has reached the point where parts availability or accumulated damage tips the balance the other way.
