Dacor’s standalone microwave is a 24-inch countertop convection model finished in stainless, sold alongside a number of Contemporary and Transitional wall ovens that build a microwave-convection speed section into the cavity above a standard steam-assist or bake oven – two different products serviced with different parts even though both heat with a magnetron.

A unit that runs – turntable turning, light and fan working – but does not actually heat food is checked at the magnetron, the high-voltage diode or capacitor, and the door interlock switches that feed them, all of which carry dangerous voltage even after the unit is unplugged and are technician-only work. A turntable that has stopped turning on an otherwise working unit is usually the turntable motor or its coupler, a smaller and more accessible repair.

Sparking, arcing or a burning smell during a cycle means the unit is unplugged and left off rather than run again to see if it repeats; metal trim on a dish, a worn interior coating or a failing part inside the cavity can all cause it, and any of those is worth having checked before the unit runs again. On combination wall ovens, the upper speed section and lower standard oven are largely separate circuits and are diagnosed independently.

The turntable not turning while everything else about the unit seems to run normally

03

The door will not latch fully closed, and the unit refuses to start

04

Arcing, sparking or a burning smell during a cycle

05

A control panel that accepts some button presses but not others

Why Trust Us With Your Dacor Appliance & Repair Microwaves

  • Confirmed Before It's Charged | We do not put a microwaves part on your bill on a hunch. It goes on the estimate once the technician has watched it fail an actual test.
  • Stocked For microwaves Repairs | The parts that give out most often on a Dacor microwaves ride along in the van, so most visits wrap up in a single trip. A part that is less common gets ordered specifically for your model.
  • Your Model, Not a Guess | Dacor has revised its control platforms across the Renaissance, Millennia, Epicure, Distinctive, Discovery, Contemporary, Transitional and Modernist lines, and a microwaves fix built for one generation can be the wrong fix for another. Sending a photo of the model and serial label when you book clears that up before we arrive.
  • Honest About Age | When an older microwaves is not worth repairing, we tell you plainly, even though it is the one answer that loses us the job.
FAQ

Microwaves Repair FAQ

On a standalone microwave that usually means the magnetron itself, the high-voltage diode or capacitor, or the door interlock switches that feed power to them. These parts carry high voltage even after the unit is unplugged, so this is technician work rather than a panel-off repair; leave the unit unplugged and do not attempt to open the cabinet yourself.

Stop using the microwave immediately and unplug it rather than running another cycle to see if it happens again. Sparking can mean metal trim on a dish, a worn interior coating, or a failing part inside the cavity, and any of those is worth having checked before the unit is used again.

Not necessarily. On a Dacor combination wall oven the upper microwave-convection speed section and the lower standard oven run on largely separate circuits, so one section failing while the other works normally is common and usually points at a part specific to the speed oven rather than the whole appliance.
