What C-70 Means
C-70 applies to Dacor wall ovens with steam cooking. The table defines it as the steam sensor reading open or shorted while the oven operates. Dry cooking modes may still work, but steam functions cannot be trusted until the sensor circuit is sorted out.
Common Causes of C-70
- Steam generator temperature sensor failed
- Scale or water intrusion around the sensor connector
- Wiring between the steam system and the control damaged
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press OFF and restart; if it returns, cut the breaker for at least 30 seconds and restore power. Make sure the water tank is seated correctly and the tank area is dry. If C-70 comes back, use only non-steam modes until the oven is checked.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The steam generator and its sensor sit behind the cavity and are reached with the oven out of the cabinet.
- Descaling or replacing parts of the steam system has to be done without letting water reach the control electronics.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
