What C-72 Means
C-72 is Dacor’s drain system code for steam wall ovens. After a steam cycle, the oven pumps leftover water back out of the steam system; C-72 means that step did not complete as expected.
Common Causes of C-72
- Scale or food residue blocking the steam drain path
- Drain pump in the steam system failing
- Water tank not seated so the drain has nowhere to return water
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Empty and refit the water tank and check the tank bay for standing water. Restart the oven, and if the code returns, do the 30-second breaker reset Dacor lists. Descale the steam system if the manual’s reminder has been showing.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The drain pump and tubing are inside the oven body and reached only with the oven removed.
- Water left behind a steam oven can drip onto its electronics, so a repeated C-72 should not be ignored.
