What F4 Means
F4 is the open-sensor alarm on classic ERC ovens. Dacor warns that an open sensor can make the controls seem dead: bake modes will not start, and a strange number may appear on the display, so it can be mistaken for a bad clock or selector.
Common Causes of F4
- Oven sensor failed open
- Sensor connector loose at the ERC
- Broken wire in the sensor harness
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Try a breaker reset. If the oven still refuses to start any bake mode, or shows F4 when you try, the sensor circuit needs testing.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Confirming an open sensor needs a resistance reading at the ERC connector.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
