What U50 / L50 Means

U50 or L50 is a latch lock failure: during locking, the control never saw the door reach the locked position. It shows up at the start of a self-clean on a Renaissance EOR/MOR oven and is logged as a fatal error for that cavity.

Common Causes of U50 / L50

  • Latch motor failed or its cam stripped
  • Lock switch not closing
  • Door misaligned so the hook cannot engage

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Check that the door is fully closed and nothing obstructs the latch slot at the top of the door frame. Cancel, wait a minute and try again once. If it repeats, do not keep cycling the latch motor.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • The service guide checks the latch motor at the relay board (about 18 ohms) and the switches at the control connector; both mean removing the oven.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
