What C-23 Means
C-23 on a Dacor range means the meat probe reads shorted while the oven operates. The fix is usually the probe, the jack in the oven wall, or moisture between them.
Common Causes of C-23
- Probe cable damaged by the door or heat
- Moisture or grease in the probe jack
- Jack wiring shorted
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Take the probe out, dry the plug and jack once the oven is cold, and check the cable. Start the oven with nothing plugged in. If C-23 clears, the probe is the problem.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Replacing the jack means opening the oven side panel of the range.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
