What C-72 Means
C-72 is the drain system code on Dacor steam ranges. After a steam cycle the range tries to recover the leftover water; C-72 means that did not work as intended.
Common Causes of C-72
- Scale or debris in the steam drain line
- Drain pump failing
- Reservoir seated incorrectly
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Empty the water reservoir and refit it, wipe out standing water in the oven, then restart with the knobs set to Off first. A 30-second power cut is the next step if the code stays.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Water from a failed drain can run toward wiring inside the range body, so repeated C-72 should be checked.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
