Downtown Manhattan's cast-iron loft buildings in Tribeca and SoHo were converted from industrial space decades before a Dacor column or steam wall oven existed, so most installations here required custom millwork to make a panel-ready unit fit a loft's non-standard opening. Getting anything in or out still means booking the building's freight elevator, and a same-day repair on a Dacor range or dishwasher in this part of the city depends on that reservation as much as on parts.
