What C-20 Means
C-20 is the oven temperature sensor code. Dacor’s table lists two conditions under it: the sensor reads open while the oven is operating, or it reads shorted. Either way the control has lost its only reliable reading of cavity temperature, so it shuts the heat off.
Common Causes of C-20
- Temperature sensor failed after repeated self-clean heat
- Sensor wire chafed or connector loosened behind the rear panel
- Board input for the sensor damaged
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Dacor’s owner steps are the restart and the 30-second breaker reset. You can also look inside the cavity, with the oven cool, for a probe at the upper rear that has been knocked or bent by a rack. If C-20 comes back after a reset, the sensor circuit needs testing.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Confirming the sensor needs a resistance reading at a known temperature, and the connector sits behind the rear wall of a built-in oven.
- An oven with a bad sensor can overshoot badly if forced to run, which is why the control stops it.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
