What F:40 Means
F:40 means water is getting through the inlet valve when it should be closed, during the cycle or in standby. The dishwasher tries to reseat the valve by opening it for two seconds and closing it; if flow continues, it stops the program and runs the drain pump.
Common Causes of F:40
- Inlet valve not sealing
- Debris holding the valve open
- Flow meter reading false flow
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Close the dishwasher’s water supply valve and leave it closed until the machine is checked.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A leaking inlet valve can flood the kitchen if the drain cannot keep up; it is replaced, not adjusted.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
